I am in shock at the death of one of my oldest friends in the business Andrew Stern. We had a love/hate relationship for years and always gave each other a hard time. He always gave me a hard time for “stealing” his girlfriend Heidi Liddell (who ended up marrying Chuck Liddell) even though I never had a romantic relationship with her. It was a running joke between us.

After he was on the Millionaire Matchmaker show, I always gave him a hard time about that — until he found the love of his life and married her.

Andrew kept his original company, never sold out, always was making money and working hard. I remember the ridiculous first flash site he had with a swinging sign and I told him the entire idea would never work at all and the site sucked. He never really listened to my advice, and always ended up making money pretty much by himself, through hard work.

We both started in the industry at the same time, and his passing makes me extremely sad. We were both young kids in this industry, and grew up making money in this industry — and everyone I know did business with him at one time or another.

My thoughts to his family and all those who were touched by him. He will be missed.

After graduating Cum Laude in Psychology on a tennis scholarship from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, Mr. Stern made the trip out West to Los Angeles, California where he excelled in marketing for over fifteen years. Mr. Stern began his career in marketing with the Los Angeles Lakers, working with advertisers such as Taco Bell, Southwest Airlines and Pepsi. He followed that by joining the online company Broadband Sports, working with dozens of professional athletes such as Kobe Bryant, Anna Kournikova and Terrell Owens; building their websites and creating new ways to send fans there. He also had a weekly sports editorial column read by millions of users. Mr. Stern then joined L90 Worldwide; a publicly traded online advertising agency. As a sales and media planner, he repped over 500 websites selling various forms of advertising on these web properties as well as creating custom media plans for brand name advertisers.

In 2002, Mr. Stern founded Seed Corn Advertising, and since then had the privilege of working with over 600 advertisers and over 400 publishers and affiliates delivering quality traffic across a wide array of verticals and web properties. Seed Corn Advertising oversees a vast search affiliate network, which generates in excess of 3 million clicks per day through properties such as find.com, seedcornppc.com, approvedsearch.com, and heresjohny.com as well as over 350 owned and operated websites and over 3,000 domains, a display network of over 6,000 sites and an opt-in database of over 30 million records.

Mr. Stern was a consummate entrepreneur having launched multiple online ventures; in addition to producing movies, launching restaurants, real estate and brokering exotic cars.

Andrew was featured on Season 2 of the hit TV show “Millionaire Matchmaker”

Affiliate Vs Partner – What’s in a Name?

There has been a lot of discussion in social forums, blog posts and conference sessions about the use of the term affiliate and/or partner marketing. 'Affiliate vs Partner' was even the Keynote panel session at Affiliate Summit West this year - and even that was inconclusive.
