  1. Read his blog post. Seems to be a pattern with police high-handedness on people of Indian-origin. He says he was brutally attacked by police as soon as he opened the door even though he was cooperative. Even his GF is shocked at the trumped up charges that were leveled against him and has given evidence of the contrary.

I don’t want to make this a racism issue – this (police brutality) happens not just with Indians but with natives too. Have seen cases of plenty of american natives being treated like worthless animals by the cops.

Remember the case of Indian diplomat Devyani Khobragade? Court ruled she did have immunity when she was arrested. And she was strip & cavity searched (despite being deputy consul general) before the charges were even proved. The Indian-Consulate was not informed and she was not asked to present herself in a dignified manner before the cops (as is the norm in such cases – yes, it is in fact clearly codified in the Vienna Convention too – that arrests in such cases must be made with extreme caution as it hampers important functions in busy consulates. The result, a replacement had to be flown in overnight who was left scrambling trying to handle the work). No, she just ‘had to’ be arrested in front of her kids while dropping them off at school. You cannot handcuff a diplomat, yet she was. And a week before that – several russian diplomats accused of a much more serious charge of insurance fraud were let off (most of them junior in rank to Devyani) citing the same immunity that she was denied. How does that work?

Another incident involving the daughter of a diplomat – who was arrested from college campus in a similarly high-handed manner & detained for a day (not even allowed to call anybody) on charges of sending a hate-mail to a teacher. Turns out it was somebody else & she had been arrested by mistake. But the most interesting part – NO CHARGES & NOTHIBG on the american student who was actually found to have sent those mails.

Have heard incidents of indian students who were arrested (and sent to prison for 6 months) for downloading MP3’s illegally, and other american students who were also caught from the same university let-off. Isn’t this blatant racism?

Now Gurbaksh Chahal is being abused for his origin too. Isn’t that stereotyping?

Again, I would like to stress – don’t want to make it an issue of racism as by and large americans (and others too) have been extremely nice & accommodating to Indians. That is what I have heard from most Indians abroad. But as soon as Indians are caught on the wrong side of the law – stereotypes are immediately invoked – and we see comments of ‘I told you these people are bad’ and such. Police & law-enforcement seems to act in an over-jealous manner.

Sorry, but this needed to be said!
    Peace

    • “I don’t want to make this a racism issue” – then proceeds to type a whole bunch of paragraphs about racism and racial issues lol

    • He was caught on tape beating the daylights out of her. I’m not sure what that has to do with him being indian?

      • Well said Pace and I am impressed that you just reported the facts in brief! Myself, I had a rant going two days ago on Facebook and deleted it because I was concerned how people in our business would accept my view (that as a father with 3 daughters and 1 granddaughter and I don’t need any help in getting blackballed). With that being said – to hit a woman 117 times in 30 mins and to choke her out for 20 seconds is a COWARDs way. If we look at the court record the video showed these actions but was thrown out – just cause you didn’t get charged with the crime, doesn’t mean you didn’t do the crime.

Think about it, that’s a hit every 0.25 seconds – most people would have been charged with Attempted Murder. I feel it shows there is a much deeper problem with him and makes you wonder how many women have not step forward or been bought off. I have known him since the days when he called himself “Gary” and AdBum was the Newsletter of choice. To those who clam this is about discrimination. I would say your right but its not racial in nature but class (rich vs poor). It shows if you have a lots of cash in San Francisco, that you can just about buy yourself out anything…

I will confess, as intellgent as he is I am surprise he didn’t hire a team to handle this whole PR nightmare. A simple apology and to admit to being human and getting treatment for anger issues would have the been the best course for this very smart and very rich man to follow…

        • I’m sure he doesn’t really care of my opinion, with all the money he has, but he should have come out immediately, been contrite, apologies, got himself help and quit from his company.

I can only imagine the ego involved that doesn’t even fake doing the right thing.

    • AD – I would simply say as 15th generation America that if its that bad for you, that maybe you shouldn’t live here…

  2. Seriously?
    Shithead i must say!

  3. Here we go again with someone claiming the race card. I am personally sick of people claiming the race card as soon as they are in trouble. Police are rough with everyone, they get off on it. It is a certain type of personality that takes a job as a police man, if you have not figured that out by now you are stupid.
Let us not forget he beat up his girlfriend. I am personally glad that the police beat the crap out of him.

  4. ive followed Gurbaksh Chahal from the start, perhaps this is a shindig for his money? dont forget he was worth $340mm at age 26!

What's your opinion?
