(PMI-TV) Monetize Your Contet with VigLink

Performance Marketing Insider Executive Editor Murray Newlands talks with Oliver Roup, the CEO of VigLink. You may have heard of VigLink as they are in the news as the next best thing in affiliate and performance marketing. VigLink’s goal is to help publishers monetize their content more effectively and without much effort. After installing a small snippet of code on your site, VigLink will detect whenever you create an outbound link to any of 12,500 merchant sites. It will then automatically convert this link to an affiliate link, which means that you get a kickback whenever someone clicks it and eventually completes a purchase on the linked merchant site.

The next best thing? Skimlinks has more merchants (18,000) and higher payouts… Not to mention they’ve been doing it for four years.. Your “next best thing” has already been done…

    • Hi Rachel, Anna here w/ VigLink. It’s certainly not accurate to say that Skimlinks has more merchants than VigLink (we are at 20k and counting). However, I guess you’re right in that they’ve got ~1 year on us — although it seems a bit silly to say that an “older” solution is automatically a better one.

Those bits of trivia aside, I think we’re approaching the conversation from the wrong angle here. The content monetization space is still very new / exciting (in our humble opinion). There is a great deal left to be done in regards to ensuring publishers are maximizing affiliate revenue and readers are getting the most out of the links in online content. The technology has really only scratched the surface and to say that it’s “done” (by any company, VigLink or Skimlinks) would be a disservice to publishers, readers, and advertisers alike.

  • I don’t want to agree that there is any thing so special about viglink. There are many other better converting platform and they have been in the business before viglink ever think on coming on board.

let’s wait and see if they will surely be the next big thing.

  • I am not using skimlinks nor viglinks, but I will be doing some research on them both before I choose(If I do decide to use one or the other).
